LIA: Flushable and biodegradable pregnancy test
Founded by Bethany Edwards and Anna Couturier, LIA is the first and only #flushable and biodegradable #pregnancy #test that is 99% accurate, has 0% plastic and will provide anyone taking the test total privacy.
Like all other pregnancy tests, LIA Diagnostics measures the amount of hCG hormone in the urine, which the body starts to produce around six days after fertilisation. After the test is taken, a small tab can be pulled off to reveal the results - two lines for a positive and one line for a negative. What happens to the test next is in the hands of the person taking it. The test can be flushed down the toilet, composted, put into the trash or shared with a partner, friends and family.
LIA is made from the same plant fibres as toilet paper, allowing it to break down in 10 weeks. Compared to traditional pregnancy tests, which create over 2 million pounds of plastic waste every year, LIA is plastic-free and eco-friendly.
