Mattalabs: Real-time 3D printing error detection for industry 4.0
Founded by Douglas Brion, a #PhD student at #Cambridge and an expert in 3D printing, Mattalabs is a #startup that is developing #AI and #cloud #technology to enable #3D #printers to kickstart the next #industrial #revolution. The startup is creating the first #self-learning global #3D printer #network using #computer vision and #machine #learning to reduce #waste, save time and improve #efficiency.
Unlike many existing 3D #printers, Mattalabs has #superior 99% error detection #technology. Their AI is constantly analysing the 3D print to #intelligently determine if an error has occurred throughout the printing process. With #advanced machine learning, the AI gets smarter and more reliable after every print.
Mattalabs has also developed the #Mattacloud, where users can access and control their 3D printer #remotely. The startup has recently achieved over 10,000 prints completed with Mattacloud and over 5 million images analysed in less than a month.
The startup was recently announced as a finalist in the 2021 Venture Catalyst Challenge run by the Imperial Enterprise Lab. The core team building the venture includes Douglas Brion, Joss Harris, Jake Dale-Brown and Oscar Scrivens.
