AirSensa: A Scalable Software Solution to Tackle Air Pollution

We talked with Harvinder Hungin, Chairman of AirSensa, on how the company is tackling the growing problem of air #pollution by gathering and analysing environmental data in large cities.

According to World Health Organization each year about 4.2 million deaths occur as a result of exposure to air pollution. There is no easy way of tackling this problem without real-time localised data collection to guide decision making.

AirSensa has developed low-cost sensors that can be distributed throughout the city to get more localised measurement points. Thousands of sensors can send real-time data to an easily scalable software platform.

The data can be used to create a safer living environment and inform policymakers, businesses and citizens. Understanding #airpollution in a specific area can be a factor in buying real estate, choosing schools or planning where to build hospitals.

Urbanisation is showing no signs of slowing down, and according to the UN by 2050 approximately 68% of the world population will be living in #cities. Measuring and reacting to air quality now and making appropriate changes can help create a safer #future for all.
